Windows Embedded licensing is structured to provide low up-front investment so that the vast majority of your expenditure happens after your device is shipping and is successful.
Below is a general diagram that explains the steps of an embedded project.
- Embedded OEM Customer contacts Authorised Embedded Distributor -Abacus Embedded
- OEM evaluates software or purchases full toolkit
- Abacus Embedded provides courtesy copy of Microsoft Customer License Agreement (CLA)
- Abacus Embedded and OEM discuss details of CLA if necessary
- OEM signs CLA
- For eligible products, Abacus Embedded provides OEM with the relevant OEM Pre-Installation Kits (OPKs)
- OEM complete development of the master embedded image
- OEM contacts Abacus Embedded to order runtime licenses
- Customer enters runtime key into embedded image
- Customer manufacturers and distributes embedded systems with the Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
