Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems
This operating system is appropriate for devices that have a strict need for Windows XP Professional application compatibility and where reduced footprint is not a primary design requirement. Unlike Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems is not a componentised version of the Windows operating systems and and OEM Pre-Installation Kit (OPK) is needed to produce the operating system image. Therefore, the operating system image size is not as customisable.
Using XP Professional?
No Major Surgery Required.
The launch of Windows Vista means the imminent end of life for Windows XP Professional - or does it?
Abacus Embedded can continue to support any device running on XP Professional that has a dedicated, fixed-funtion until at least 2016.
Microsoft Windows XP Professional for Embedded Systems allows developers the full XP Professional code, with licensing features that better meet the requirements of the embedded environment. In addition to support beyond the end of the software’s desktop life, these include the ability to add a custom boot logo, for branding purposes and to mask the Operating System from the user.
Other features of XP Professional for Embedded Systems include the ability to create multi-lingual platforms, it’s hardware independence, the ability to pre-activate before shipping. The embedded license also allows a third party company, such as a systems integrator or subcontract manufacturer, to install the operating system on behalf of the license holder. Both of these procedures are prohibited under standard desktop licensing terms.
We can guarantee availability and support of XP Pro until 2016!!!
